IFREMER Centre of Nantes
The Centre of Nantes, located close to the University and Engineering
Schools, the IFREMER Centre of Nantes is involved in research in :
- the living resources : aquaculture, fisheries, sea products
development. The research relates to the knowledge of the algae and the marine animals
in the natural environment, their potentialities of production (fishing, farming)
and their development after catches or harvest
- the coastal environment : the purpose of work is a better
knowledge of the environment, the protection of the shellfish farming livestock and
the consumers
- the engineering and technology : the works relate to the management
and the development of the data-processing infrastructures of the institute ; the
development of softwares in the field of scientific data management.
- In including the coastal stations which are linked to it,
about 300 people work in the centre.
