ICRAM

ICRAM (Central Institute for scientific and technological research applied to Sea) is a non profit public institute. It has scientific, organizing and financial autonomy. Its competence are:
a) research and technical services about the production capacity and amount of marine biology resources in function of a rational use of fishery and aquaculture;
b) it helps the Ministry of Environment in the control of the quality marine environment; gives opinion about the setting up of protected marine areas;
c) it co-ordinates the activity of the research structures regarding the unity of sea emergency of the Ministry of Environment.

The ICRAM mission is to protect the sea and its resources, through conservation activities based on scientific basis and precautional approach.

The ICRAM vision is to reach a safe marine environment capable to last during time and live together with man and his need.


The scope of the Institute are:


1) protection of the water quality and marine, coastal environment;
2) preservation of marine biology biodiversity, with particular attention to the protection of habitats and protected marine species;
3) responsible and sustainable use of the marine environment and its resources.


The ICRAM functions are the following:


advice and scientific support, research, documentation, training.


How to reach ICRAM


From Fiumicino airport take the motor way and exit to Boccea Casalotti, turn left and go straight on along Via Casalotti. After about 2 Km the Institute is on your right.
