Melita Peharda Uljević

I am Senior Scientist at the Institute of Oceanography and Fisheries (Split, Croatia). My research is in the field of marine ecology and is mostly related to bivalve ecology and sclerochronology, including analysis of tissue, shell growth increment structures and shell geochemistry. Special attention is devoted to long living, commercially important and protected bivalve species. I am also interested in bivalve aquaculture and fisheries and in collaboration with collegues from the home Institute I participate in research related to fish ecology and fisheries.

Organised the 5th International Sclerochronology Conference in 2019. Have experience in consulting for, leading and participating in EU Horizon 2020, Horizon Europe and Croatian Science Foundation projects. Fulbright Visiting Scholar, University of Texas at Austin, USA (2015).

Managing Guest Editor for VSIs on Sclerochronology published in Estuarine Coastal and Shelf Science and Palaeogeography, Palaeoclimatology, Palaeoecology. Associate Editor for the journal Estuarine Coastal and Shelf Science (since 2021) and journal Palaeogeography, Palaeoclimatology, Palaeoecology (since 2022). Editor-in-Chief of Acta Adriatica (since 2023).
