New publication about new fish species discovered due to DNA barcoding

Due to used DNA barcoding we discovered that in Adriatic Sea lives new Gobiidae - Buenia massutii Kovačić, Ordines, and Schliewen, 2017. Those results were presented in the scientific journal Acta Adriatica.

All interested stakeholders (fishermen, Ministry of agriculture- Department of fishery, and local administration officers) were there. Also. ESAmar brochures were distributed to them.

MEETING WITH ALL INTERESTED STAKEHOLDERS

We organized the meeting with all interested stakeholders - Ministry of Agriculture, Directorate of Fisheries, University of Split, fishermen and other scientists. During the meeting, we presented the scientific results of the ESAmar project and distributed the brochure, which contained the main results regarding the most important pelagic and demersal fish species. After the discussion catering for all participants was organized.

GENERAL FISHERIES COMMISSION FOR THE MEDITERRANEAN

Two members of ESAmar project attended the forty-fourth session of the General Fisheries Commission for the Mediterranean (GFCM) and the eleventh session of the Committee on Administration and Finance (CAF). During the session, the Commission adopted measures to protect juveniles of priority species as well as a minimum conservation reference size for priority stocks in the Mediterranean Sea and a fishing effort regime for key demersal stocks in the Adriatic Sea.
